ASBURY PARK, N.J. — The Original Asbury Park Ghost Tours are back this summer, leading curious visitors through the city’s haunted streets and unexplained history starting Tuesday.
Running through November 1, the walking tours depart from Paranormal Books & Curiosities at 621 Cookman Avenue, a shop and museum known for its collection of haunted artifacts and mysterious oddities.
Founded by local paranormal researcher Kathy Kelly, the tours offer guided experiences blending folklore, true crime, and alleged ghost sightings. They draw from first-hand reports and historic records to explore Asbury Park’s lesser-known stories.
The tours are part of a broader attraction housed inside Paranormal Books & Curiosities, which includes the Paranormal Museum. Exhibits at the museum feature a range of items including vintage Ouija boards, cursed dolls, and displays like “Famous Haunts of the USA.” Visitors can view these collections through private, docent-led tours.
“History, mystery, and magic converge,” the museum states, presenting a mix of storytelling and artifact exploration for both skeptics and believers.
The ghost tours and museum visits have become a fixture of Asbury Park’s cultural offerings, attracting tourists looking beyond the city’s beaches and boardwalk. The event runs nightly from July 8 through November 1, with bookings available online or by phone.
