SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — After a week of coastal flooding, high winds, and pounding surf from Hurricane Erin, the Jersey Shore is poised for a picture-perfect weather rebound just in time for one final summer weekend on the boardwalk.

First, please note, the headline is tongue-in-cheek. The storm is not predicted to make landfall. Mother nature knows the Jersey Shore has been through enough since Sandy, and well, Phil Murphy, so we’re not ready for that.

Forecasters are calling for sunny skies and mild temperatures Friday through Saturday night, giving beachgoers and boaters one last stretch of calm weather before fall begins its slow creep. Friday will be sunny with a high near 82 degrees, and a light north breeze gusting up to 20 mph will help dry out saturated coastal areas.

Friday night brings a cooler touch, with mostly clear skies and lows dropping to around 58 — ideal for evening strolls along the piers or a quiet night on the bay.

Saturday stays nearly identical with sunshine and a high near 83, making it one of the most comfortable days of the season. Boaters, anglers, and amusement park visitors should find smooth sailing and dry skies through Saturday night, which will stay mostly clear with a low around 63.

Rain may return late Sunday afternoon, but most of the day looks dry and partly sunny with highs again in the low 80s. Showers become more likely after 8 p.m. as a new system moves in, marking the end of the idyllic weekend stretch.

The improvement comes after a volatile week of weather that included dangerous surf, rip currents, and moderate flooding from Erin’s offshore impact. Officials are urging visitors to remain cautious near waterlines, especially in areas still drying out.
