Deal, NJ – A man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly breaking into an elementary school, stealing an electric scooter, and fleeing the scene — only to be tracked down and charged the next day.

According to Deal Police, 39-year-old Kyle Costello of Asbury Park was identified as the suspect behind a burglary at Deal Elementary School that occurred late Saturday night. Investigators say Costello entered the school through a window, removed an electric scooter from a hallway, and exited the building undetected.

Detective Christopher Mirrione led the investigation, which resulted in the recovery of the stolen scooter and the identification of Costello through follow-up inquiries. Officers located and arrested him on Tuesday in Asbury Park.

Costello now faces multiple charges, including burglary, theft, trespassing, and narcotics-related offenses. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution following his arrest.

The Deal Police Department acknowledged the assistance of the Neptune Township and Wall Township Police Departments in tracking down the suspect.

Authorities emphasized that all charges are accusations, and Costello is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
