SHAWANGUNK, NY – A New Jersey pilot was killed Sunday afternoon when his small plane went down at an airport in Ulster County, authorities said.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in the Town of Shawangunk, according to New York State Police. The single-engine aircraft went down shortly after takeoff, fatally injuring the pilot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
