Jackson, NJ – Township officials will convene a special meeting Friday morning to appoint a new mayor after the resignation of longtime Mayor Michael Reina.

According to the Township Council agenda, the meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the municipal building on West Veterans Highway. Council members will vote to fill the mayoral vacancy, with the appointee serving the remainder of the unexpired term through Dec. 31, 2026.

Following the vote, the chosen candidate will take the oath of office before the public comment session and adjournment.

Notices of the special meeting were filed on Sept. 26 and distributed to local media in compliance with New Jersey’s Open Public Meetings Law.

The transition marks a new chapter for Jackson as the council prepares to name a new mayor for the first time in 18 years.
