INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was arrested early Friday following an overnight stabbing near Senate Avenue and West Washington Street, according to Indianapolis police. Investigators say the altercation began around 12:30 a.m. and involved two men who are not local residents. One man suffered stab wounds and remains hospitalized in stable condition, while Sanchez sustained lacerations and other injuries consistent with a physical struggle. Police described the confrontation as an isolated incident and not a random act of violence.

After consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested the 38-year-old Sanchez for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication — all misdemeanor charges. Detectives confirmed that all individuals involved have been identified and no further suspects are being sought.

Sanchez, who remains in the hospital, has not yet been booked into the Adult Detention Center. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine whether formal charges will be filed.

The case will be presented to prosecutors in the coming days as detectives finalize their review of security footage and witness statements.
