PHILADELPHIA, PA – A man was critically wounded late Monday morning after being shot inside a South Philadelphia home, sparking an urgent investigation by city police.
Officers rushed to the 1300 block of Reese Street around 11:12 a.m. after reports of gunfire inside a residence.
The 39-year-old victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to Jefferson – Center City Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Detectives from the department’s Shooting Investigation Group are handling the case. No arrests have been made and a motive has not been determined.
Police have not released the victim’s identity and continue to canvass the area for witnesses or surveillance footage.
No word yet on what led to the shooting, but neighbors say the quiet street was shaken by the sudden violence.
