Doctor visit turns into $50K lottery win for Maryland woman

Hagerstown woman waiting for doctor hits $50K scratch-off jackpot

HAGERSTOWN, MD — What started as a routine wait at a doctor’s office turned into a life-changing moment for one Washington County woman, who walked away with $50,000 after buying a scratch-off ticket to kill time.

The Hagerstown resident, who describes herself as a casual player, purchased a $20 All About Cash scratch-off ticket at Liquor Locker, located at 1740 Dual Highway. While scratching the ticket, she quickly realized her numbers were matching up — revealing multiple $1,000 and $5,000 prizes before scanning the ticket and confirming she had won a second-tier prize worth $50,000.

She claimed her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Wednesday and said she plans to use the winnings to take care of her finances.

The All About Cash game launched on July 18 and still has four out of five $1 million top prizes unclaimed. The only top prize awarded so far went to a Baltimore County player. Now, two of the original four $50,000 second-tier prizes remain.

The scratch-off game features other available prizes ranging from $40 to $10,000 and can be purchased at licensed Maryland Lottery retailers across the state.
