LEONIA, NJ – Authorities have declared a state of emergency in New Jersey to prepare for a looming nor’easter that is expected to impact the region beginning Sunday. Major coastal and inland flooding, high winds, and heavy rainfall are anticipated as the storm approaches.

Fort Lee Road has completed road work and is now open to traffic, although paving is tentatively scheduled for Monday at 7:00 a.m. Depending on weather conditions, the paving may be rescheduled. An update will be shared as soon as a decision is made.

The state is bracing for significant weather conditions, with forecasts predicting winds of up to 60 mph and rain amounts reaching five inches. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead in preparation for the storm and to consult safety tips available at www.ready.nj.gov.

The Department of Public Works has mobilized its resources to address potential flooding issues. Residents experiencing flooding should contact the Leonia Police Department at (201) 944-0800 for assistance.

Authorities stress the importance of being proactive in light of the forecasts. Preparations are critical to mitigate the effects of the impending storm.
