Do You Know Him? Brooklyn fugitive sought in deadly Mother’s Day shooting in Brownsville

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that left a 24-year-old man dead outside a Strauss Street building in Brownsville.

The NYPD identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jahmal Grant of Herzl Street.

Detectives say the shooting occurred just after midnight on May 12, 2024.

Victim pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital

Officers responding to a 911 call around 12:12 a.m. found Boodie suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in front of 2274 Strauss Street. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m.

Detectives seek help from the public

Grant remains wanted as the investigation continues under the direction of the NYPD’s 73rd Precinct detectives. Surveillance images of the suspect have been released and are available through the department’s DCPI unit.
