NEWARK, N.J. – The Newark Police Division is inviting residents to celebrate Halloween with a series of community events held throughout the city on Thursday and Friday.
The department announced multiple family-friendly gatherings, including trunk-or-treats, block parties, and haunted house events.
Each precinct will host its own celebration, providing safe, supervised spaces for children and families to enjoy Halloween festivities.

Halloween fun planned citywide
The department said events will be held at precinct locations across Newark, with officers and community members coming together to promote safety and fun.
The 2nd Precinct will host a Halloween Block Event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Montclair Avenue and Summer Avenue. The 4th Precinct will hold its annual Trunk or Treat at West Side Park from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and the 5th Precinct will host its Haunted Precinct Event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at 480 Clinton Avenue.
Events kick off Thursday
Celebrations begin a day early at the 7th Precinct’s Trunk or Treat, taking place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Roseville Presbyterian Church, 36 Roseville Avenue.
The 9th/Metro Precinct will also host a free haunted house Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 22 Franklin Street, with entry through the parking lot.
Community engagement and safety focus
The Newark Department of Public Safety said the events are part of ongoing community engagement efforts to strengthen trust between police officers and residents. Costumes, candy, and safety education will be part of each event.
Officials encouraged families to attend and reminded residents to exercise caution when trick-or-treating throughout the city this Halloween weekend.
