Berkeley Township, NJ – Two motorists were arrested on Route 9 in separate incidents after police say both were driving under the influence during late September traffic stops.
The first arrest occurred on September 25, when a gray Jeep Liberty was seen driving erratically and nearly caused a collision, police said.
Two days later, officers stopped a gray Honda sedan after noticing signs of intoxication and the smell of alcohol from the driver.

Aggressive driver arrested after near crash
Patrolman Anthony Ceglie conducted a stop on September 25 after observing a gray Jeep Liberty failing to stay in its lane and crossing the median. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jolie Decker of Bayville, was found to be under the influence, according to police.
Decker was arrested, processed at police headquarters, and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Her vehicle was impounded under John’s Law, which mandates temporary seizure following DWI arrests. She was later released pending a court date.
Philadelphia man charged after second DWI stop
On September 27, Patrolman Josh Foca pulled over a gray Honda sedan near 645 Route 9. Police said the driver, identified as 32-year-old Shavon Hinton of Philadelphia, showed signs of intoxication and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
Hinton was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Open Container in Vehicle, Careless Driving, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Stop or Yield. His car was also impounded under John’s Law, and he was released pending a future court appearance.
Authorities said both arrests underscore continued enforcement of DWI laws along the busy Route 9 corridor.
