Cornelius, OR – A man allegedly detonated a bomb at an apartment after learning of his ex-girlfriend’s new relationship. Samuel Christian Lund, 37, faces multiple charges, including five counts of attempted murder.

The incident took place early on October 6 at a residence in the 200 block of North 10th Street. A resident reported seeing a man dressed in black shortly before an explosion shattered the calm of the early morning.

Witnesses heard gunshots and described an explosion that sent debris flying. Neighbors reported seeing a suspect fleeing the scene on an e-bike.

Lund’s ex-girlfriend informed authorities that he had sent her threatening messages, expressing anger over her new relationship. The messages detailed intentions to harm and included threats about his impending arrival.

When confronted by police, Lund acknowledged sending the messages but denied detonation of the bomb. He admitted to having experience with explosives, claiming he possessed a bomb in his garage.

Lund is currently held without bond in Washington County Jail. His next court appearance is set for November 17.

This incident is not Lund’s first run-in with the law, as he previously served a five-year sentence for a stabbing incident in 2018.
