PASADENA, MD – A nighttime traffic stop in Anne Arundel County led to the arrest of two people after police discovered suspected drugs and a loaded handgun inside their vehicle.

Officers with the Eastern District pulled the car over near Edgewood Avenue and 8th Street around 9:15 p.m. on Monday.

A subsequent search turned up .37 grams of suspected heroin and fentanyl along with a loaded firearm, authorities said.

Two suspects taken into custody

Police identified the driver as 42-year-old Steven Choi of Hanover and the passenger as 31-year-old Danielle Marie Navarro of Halethorpe. Both were arrested and charged with weapons and narcotics offenses.

The handgun was recovered without incident, and police confirmed no injuries occurred during the stop.

Ongoing investigation

Anne Arundel County Police said the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the source of the narcotics. The seized firearm will be examined to see if it is linked to any prior incidents in the region.

Court documents are expected to detail the full list of charges once formally filed with the state’s attorney’s office.
