PHILADELPHIA, PA – A deadly October shooting outside a South Philadelphia restaurant left one man dead and another wounded before police tracked down the alleged gunman more than a month later.

The violence erupted around 6:12 p.m. on October 9 near 1300 Packer Avenue.

Responding officers found 23-year-old Hasson Mason suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the face and body.

Medics rushed Mason to Jefferson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead 40 minutes later.

A second 23-year-old man was discovered a block away in front of Chickie’s & Pete’s Restaurant with gunshot wounds to the torso.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and listed in stable condition.

Arrest made in connection to fatal shooting

On Monday, homicide investigators secured an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Abou Keita.

Officers from the 12th District located Keita inside a parked vehicle on the 2200 block of South Felton Street and took him into custody without incident.

He was charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, multiple firearm violations, and related offenses.

Court records show Keita remains in custody as the investigation continues into what led to the deadly exchange of gunfire.
