Woman arrested for attempted murder after knife attack on daughter

Orange Park, FL – Serpil Nebiye Adams, 62, faces charges for allegedly attacking her estranged adult daughter with a knife. The incident occurred Monday afternoon at the victim’s home on Reese Avenue in Orange Park.

A 911 call was made at approximately 3:15 p.m. by the victim, who could be heard yelling for her mother to leave. Upon arrival, deputies found blood on the sidewalk near the residence.

The victim reported a physical confrontation with her mother, who entered uninvited and assaulted her with a serrated utility knife. The victim was home with her two young children at the time.

During the attack, the victim’s 8-year-old daughter intervened by retrieving a kitchen knife and injuring Adams in the upper arm. Blood was observed leading to Adams’ vehicle, which belonged to another woman.

Investigators located Adams at a friend’s house in Jacksonville and took her into custody without incident. She invoked her Miranda rights during questioning and requested counsel.

No injuries were reported for the victim or her children in connection with the incident. Adams is being held in the Clay County Jail with a bond exceeding $500,000.

She appeared in court on Tuesday, where a no-contact order was issued should she post bond. Adams is set to appear again on December 16.
