Street closures and parking restrictions set for CityCenterDC tree lighting Saturday
Washington, DC – Holiday festivities in the District will bring temporary street closures and parking restrictions this Saturday as CityCenterDC hosts its annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony downtown.
From 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, two key streets in the heart of DC will be closed to traffic and posted as Emergency No Parking zones:
- 10th Street NW between H Street and New York Avenue
- I Street NW between 9th Street and 10th Street
The closures are part of traffic and public safety plans supporting the tree lighting event, which typically draws large crowds to the CityCenterDC retail and entertainment district. The Metropolitan Police Department is advising drivers to expect delays in the surrounding area and to consider alternate routes.
Vehicles parked in violation of posted Emergency No Parking signs will be subject to ticketing and towing. Drivers are urged to check signage carefully and comply with all traffic control measures.
Pedestrian traffic is expected to increase significantly near the event, and both police and the D.C. Department of Transportation are urging caution for all motorists traveling through the downtown area.

All closures are subject to change depending on weather or operational needs.
