Police say suspect demanded cash and vehicle keys before opening fire

BROOKLYN, NY — A 21-year-old livery cab driver was shot in the face during an early morning robbery in Brooklyn after a gunman allegedly demanded money and the keys to the vehicle before opening fire, according to the New York City Police Department.

The shooting occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, in front of 525 Parkside Avenue.

According to the NYPD, an unidentified man entered a TLC livery cab and approached the 21-year-old driver.

Police said the suspect threatened the victim and demanded money as well as the keys to the vehicle.

As the driver exited the cab, the suspect allegedly fired a gun, striking the victim in the face.

The NYPD did not immediately release information about the victim’s condition or whether the suspect fled with any property.

The investigation remains active, and detectives are working to identify the gunman.
