STATEN ISLAND, NY – An off-duty NYPD officer was taken into custody Thursday morning and charged with multiple offenses, including computer trespass and stalking, officials said.
The arrest occurred around 9:35 a.m. within the 120th Precinct, according to police.
The officer, identified as 30-year-old Anyely Mejia, faces several charges stemming from alleged misconduct.
Authorities said Mejia was charged with computer trespass, unauthorized use of a computer, official misconduct, stalking, and harassment.
NYPD confirms officer’s arrest
A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest but did not release further details about the circumstances leading to the charges. Mejia was off duty at the time of the arrest, and the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau is reviewing the incident.
Internal investigation underway
Officials said administrative action will be determined pending the outcome of both the criminal and internal investigations. The NYPD has not disclosed whether the alleged offenses occurred on or off duty.
