HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – A wind advisory has been issued for portions of northern New Jersey, Delaware, and southeast Pennsylvania as powerful gusts are expected to sweep through the region from early Friday morning through late Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, southwest winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, are forecast to begin overnight Thursday and continue into Friday morning. Winds are expected to shift to the northwest by Friday afternoon as a strong cold front moves through, with a brief lull possible around midday before conditions intensify again.

Forecasters warned that unsecured outdoor items could be blown around, tree limbs may fall, and scattered power outages could occur. Motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution on roadways during the advisory period.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations and other loose objects before the winds strengthen.

A wind advisory will take effect Friday as gusts up to 45 mph are expected across northern New Jersey and surrounding areas.
