Belleville declares snow emergency ahead of winter storm expected to bring up to 8 inches

BELLEVILLE, N.J. – Township officials have declared a Snow Emergency beginning Friday evening as forecasters predict 5 to 8 inches of snow across the region.

The alert, issued by the Township of Belleville, advises residents to move all vehicles off designated Snow Emergency streets before the storm arrives to allow plows and salt trucks to operate safely and efficiently. Drivers are urged to stay off the roads during the height of the storm to prevent accidents and assist road crews.

Officials also reminded residents not to shovel or blow snow from driveways and sidewalks into the street, warning that doing so creates hazardous conditions and disrupts snow removal operations.

Public works crews will be on duty throughout the night to clear major roadways, and residents are asked to cooperate with all parking and cleanup regulations.
