NEWARK, NJ – Newark police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman accused of attacking another shopper inside a downtown clothing store following a dispute over social media comments, officials said.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on December 20 inside the Rainbow Shops store located in the 100 block of Market Street. The victim told investigators that two women confronted her about remarks made online. Moments later, one of the women — described as having red box-braided hair — allegedly punched the victim in the face several times while the other woman recorded the assault.
After the attack, both suspects fled the store in an unknown direction. No information has been released regarding the victim’s injuries.
