Take 5 player wins nearly $18K with lucky ticket sold at Brookhaven gas station

BROOKHAVEN, NY – A quick stop at a Long Island gas station turned into a five-figure payday for one lucky New York Lottery player who won the top prize in Sunday’s Take 5 midday drawing.

The winning ticket, worth $17,767, was sold at 2510 Petroleum, located at 2510 Montauk Highway in Brookhaven. It was the only top-prize ticket drawn during the January 7 midday game.

Take 5 is drawn twice daily, once at 2:30 p.m. and again at 10:30 p.m., with numbers selected from a field of one through 39. Winners have up to one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

The New York Lottery, which contributed $3.6 billion to education in fiscal year 2024–2025, remains the most profitable lottery in North America.
