Urgent amazon smoke alarm recall impacts 11000 units nationwide

Washington, DC – Federal safety officials are warning consumers to immediately stop using certain smoke alarms sold on Amazon after discovering a defect that could prevent the devices from sounding during a fire.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday that about 11,000 LShome Photoelectric Smoke Detector Fire Alarms are being recalled due to a potential failure to warn occupants in an emergency. The defect could result in serious injury or death if the alarm does not activate in time.

The recall involves a 3-pack of 9-volt battery-operated smoke detector fire alarms sold exclusively on Amazon.com by TIANJINSHIHAOWEIXINSHENGJIDIANANZHUANGGONGCHENG, a China-based retailer. The units were sold online from February 2024 through December 2025 for approximately $30.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the sensing threshold on the affected alarms may be set too high, meaning the device might not sound promptly when smoke is detected.

The recall applies to model number “XG-7D04-KZ9Z” and SKU number “CX-50YP-A5VN,” both printed on the bottom of the alarm. The devices are white, circular, include a test button, and emit a light and sound warning.

Refund process and disposal instructions

Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled smoke alarms and contact lmm15957491237@163.com for instructions on how to receive a full refund through Amazon. The CPSC stated that the alarms may be discarded in household trash once removed.

No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the recall.

The product was manufactured in China and assigned recall number 26-260. Officials urge households to verify the model and SKU numbers on the bottom of their devices to determine whether they are affected by the Amazon recall.
