Police hunt morristown driver charged in fatal hit-and-run crash

Authorities say the suspect fled on foot after a deadly early morning collision and remains at large.

Morristown, NJ – Law enforcement officials are searching for a Morristown man charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that left a victim dead Friday morning. The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot, triggering a multi-agency investigation now focused on locating him.

Emergency responders were dispatched around 6:53 a.m. to the intersection of Sussex Avenue and Speedwell Place for reports of a person pinned beneath a truck. The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead.

Suspect identified and charged

Authorities identified the alleged driver as 33-year-old Wilson “Adrian” Morocho-Necta of Morristown. According to investigators, he fled the scene immediately after the crash.

“Necta has been charged by warrant complaint with one count of second degree Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death … and third degree Endangering an Injured Victim – Leaving the Scene,” officials said in a statement.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Morristown Police Department, and Morris County Sheriff’s Office, which identified Necta as the driver involved in the incident.

Public asked to help locate suspect

Authorities said the search for Necta is ongoing and are urging the public to come forward with any information about his whereabouts. He is also known by the name “Adrian.”
