Gunshot blasts through apartment ceiling leading to juvenile arrest in Southeast

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A quiet morning inside a Southeast apartment was suddenly disrupted when a bullet tore through the ceiling from the unit above, triggering a police response and an arrest.

The incident happened around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28 in the 3400 block of 13th Place Southeast.

Residents reported the alarming moment after a shot was fired, sending a bullet into the apartment below.

Despite the dangerous situation, no injuries were reported.

An investigation inside the building led officers to the unit above, where they discovered a bullet hole in the floor along with an unregistered firearm.

A 16-year-old male from Southeast was taken into custody following the investigation.

He faces charges including endangerment with a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and destruction of property.
