Jersey thief pulls knife after swiping sports jerseys at Baltimore store cops say
BALTIMORE, MD — A man accused of stealing sports jerseys from a downtown Baltimore store allegedly pulled a knife on an employee while trying to escape before police tracked him down blocks away, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
The robbery happened Wednesday, May 6, at about 10 a.m. inside a retail business in the 300 block of West Camden Street in the city’s Southern District.
Investigators said the 49-year-old suspect entered the store and removed two sports jerseys from a wall before attempting to flee.
When a store employee confronted the suspect, police said the man allegedly brandished a knife and ran from the business on foot.
Officers responding to the scene obtained a description of the suspect and canvassed the surrounding area.
Police later located and arrested the suspect without incident in the 200 block of North Eutaw Street.
Authorities said the suspect would be transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility where he is expected to face armed robbery and weapons charges.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
