Man shot to death near playground in Allegheny County

A man was fatally shot near a Homestead playground Wednesday evening as multiple people fled the scene, investigators said.

HOMESTEAD, PA — A man was shot to death near a playground in Homestead on Wednesday evening, prompting a homicide investigation by the Allegheny County Police Department.

According to police, Allegheny County 9-1-1 received reports of shots fired at approximately 6:24 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, in the area of McLean Playground, located at 1200 Sarah Street.

First responders arrived to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates multiple individuals fled the area following the shooting.

Allegheny County Police homicide detectives are leading the investigation.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or announced any arrests.
