CUMBERLAND, MD – Two Cumberland men were taken into custody Thursday in separate incidents, one involving an active bench warrant tied to prior criminal charges and another stemming from a reported trespassing complaint at a residential building.
The Cumberland Police Department said both arrests occurred on Thursday, July 16, with one suspect ordered held without bond and the other released pending a court appearance.
Warrant arrest tied to prior charges
According to the department, “On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Jacob Charles Minnick, 44, of Cumberland, MD.” Police stated Minnick “was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on July 14, 2026.”
The warrant alleges Minnick “failed to comply with a court order related to previous burglary, assault, and theft charges,” according to the release. After his arrest, Minnick was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance.
Police confirmed that “he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.” The listed charge is “Bench Warrant – Fail to Comply.”
Trespassing complaint leads to citation
In a separate case the same day, officers responded to a reported trespassing incident at an apartment building on the 100 block of Mechanic Street.
The department stated, “On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department responded to an apartment building in the 100 block of Mechanic St for a report of trespassing.” Upon arrival, officers met with property management and investigated the complaint.
Police said they “spoke to a representative of management and confirmed that a male suspect found on the premises had previously been served a ‘no trespass’ order.” Following that confirmation, Kenneth Lloyd Bowser Jr., 42, of Cumberland, was arrested at the scene.
Authorities reported that Bowser “was later issued a criminal citation for the offense and released, pending trial in District Court.” The listed charge is “Trespass-Private Property.”
