MANCHESTER, N.J. – A nursing facility worker accused of assaulting an elderly resident has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a weapons offense and neglect following an investigation that began with Manchester Township Police officers responding to the facility in March 2025.
Lisa L. Erikson pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree neglect of an elderly adult, according to Manchester police. As part of the plea agreement, Erikson will also permanently forfeit her nursing license.
The case began March 19, 2025, when Manchester officers were called to a rehabilitation and nursing facility for a reported incident involving an employee and an elderly resident. Police said officers and detectives reviewed surveillance footage and determined that the resident had been assaulted by a staff member.

Surveillance Video Led to Criminal Investigation
Manchester police did not identify the nursing and rehabilitation facility or the elderly resident in their case update.
After officers responded to the March 2025 report, investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the facility. Police said that evidence established that an employee had assaulted the resident.
The initial investigation resulted in criminal charges before the case was transferred to the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for additional investigation and prosecution.
Manchester police credited the officers and detectives who initially handled the case with bringing the alleged abuse to light.
“We are proud of the work of the Manchester Township Police Officers and Detectives whose initial response and continued investigation helped bring this incident to light and ensure that it was thoroughly investigated,” the department said in its update.
Erikson Will Permanently Forfeit Nursing License
The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit ultimately prosecuted the case, according to Manchester police.
Erikson’s guilty plea covers three offenses, led by second-degree aggravated assault. She also admitted third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree neglect of an elderly adult.
The Manchester police update did not identify the weapon involved or provide details about the resident’s injuries. It also did not state the prison sentence prosecutors will recommend or provide Erikson’s sentencing date.
One consequence is already part of the agreement: Erikson will permanently forfeit her nursing license.
The police department also thanked the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office for their work on the investigation and prosecution.
Because Erikson has entered a guilty plea, the three offenses covered by that plea are no longer merely allegations against her. The next major step in the criminal case will be sentencing.
