LOS ANGELES, CA – Hours after declaring a total lockdown in Los Angeles, County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, who had just voted to ban outdoor dining in the city’s 31,000 restaurants went out for a night on the town in neighboring Santa Monica, where dining out is still legal. The act was caught by Fox 11 in California. Kuehl’s office said her visit out was to support local businesses struggling from the COVID-19 shutdowns. The LA County vote was tied 2-2 and Kuehl’s vote was the deciding vote to shut down the county’s outdoor dining.
“She did dine al fresco at Il Forno on the very last day it was permissible. She loves Il Forno, has been saddened to see it, like so many restaurants, suffer from a decline in revenue. She ate there, taking appropriate precautions, and sadly will not dine there again until our Public Health Orders permit,” her office said in a statement.
