Cape May, NJ – A diner at the famed Lobster House Restaurant in Cape May bit into an unusual surprise while downing his dozen clams. Michael Spressler, of Brick Township, said he ordered a dozen clams on the half shell, and on his 12th clam, he bit into something hard.
At first, Spressler thought he cracked a tooth, but he realized it wasn’t a broken tooth in his mouth, it was a pearl.
Spressler and his wife had been celebrating their 34th “Lobster House Anniversary”.
The pearl was sized at 8.8 millimeters and could fetch thousands of dollars. Spressler said he is not going to sell the pearl, but said he would turn it into a piece of jewelry.
