MCKEESPORT, PA – Two state agents were shot at by suspects during a drug-related traffic stop in McKeesport.

Agents and members of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Narcotics Task Force trailed a car they believed related to narcotics distribution on Monday at 1:45 p.m., until it abruptly stopped on Lower Benwood Avenue. The suspects responded by firing at one of the law enforcement vehicles after the occupants stepped out. Two PAOAG agents and a McKees Rocks Police Department officer responded.

A second PAOAG agent in another unmarked vehicle followed the suspect vehicle out of the neighborhood onto Tunnel Way, Island Avenue, Chartiers Avenue, and West Carson Street. A suspect vehicle fired multiple rounds at the second agent’s unmarked vehicle while it was being followed. It was later found in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood.

Detectives from the County Police Homicide Unit began an investigation after Stowe Township Police Department and PAOAG’s Office requested assistance.

Callers can remain anonymous by calling 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477); the department can also be reached via social media.
