Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision in Townsend Area

TOWNSEND, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a tragic motor vehicle collision that occurred on March 23, 2023, at approximately 9:53 a.m. on Summit Bridge Road approaching Green Giant Road. The accident involved an Audi Q3, a Jeep Comanche, and a Chevy Silverado.

The Jeep turned left into the path of the Audi, causing a chain of collisions with the Chevy. The 65-year-old female Audi driver and the 41-year-old male Chevy driver were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Charles Cook, 84, from Townsend and the operator of the Jeep, was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene. Police are requesting anyone with dashcam footage or video of the collision to contact Master Corporal J. Forester at 302-365-8485.
