Leaders call on gopal to call out murphy for monmouth schools threat

MARLBORO, NJ – In a recent radio program, Governor Phil Murphy expressed his offense and determination to fight back against school policies that involve parents in important issues affecting their children. Specifically, Murphy has filed lawsuits against school boards that have implemented policies supporting parental notification when a student seeks accommodations or changes related to their gender.

Reports from NJ101.5 suggest that potential sanctions, including the loss of school funding, are being considered in response to these policies.

The LD11 Republican team, representing New Jersey’s 11th legislative district, is calling on Senator Gopal and his running mates to denounce the threats made by the Murphy Administration and demand the immediate restoration of the $75 million that was cut from LD-11 schools.

Gopal is a Murphy ally who has been trying to distance himself from Murphy’s controversial school funding and LGBTQ policies, but Gopal has stopped short of criticizing his most important ally in Trenton.

Republicans say Gopal is riding the fence, hoping that voters will not see him as the Murphy Democrat he actually is.

Steve Dnistrian, a candidate for the state senate in LD-11, criticized Governor Murphy’s focus on lawsuits instead of addressing the learning loss that students have experienced due to the pandemic. Dnistrian believes that parents should be included in essential discussions about their children’s health and well-being.

Assemblywoman Marilyn Piperno, also representing LD-11, expressed her dismay at Murphy’s priorities, stating that funding cuts and learning loss have already affected children’s education and services. She finds it appalling that the governor’s priority is to further punish schools and children with additional funding cuts.

Assemblywoman Kim Eulner, another representative for LD-11, questioned both Murphy’s lack of compassion for his neighbors and Senator Gopal’s failure to stand up for Monmouth County’s families. Eulner emphasized the importance of providing the best education possible for children and hopes that their opponents will join them in undoing the damage caused by Governor Murphy.

The issue surrounding parental involvement in school policies and the potential repercussions for school funding continues to be a point of contention in New Jersey.
