ST. LOUIS, MO – Deoman Reeves, 31, of East St. Louis, Illinois, was convicted Friday on 11 felony charges related to fentanyl trafficking, illegal firearm sales, and a 2019 shooting death in University City. Reeves was found guilty of all charges, including conspiracy to distribute over 40 grams of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of firearms for drug trafficking, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm resulting in death.

The case originated from a September 2019 shooting incident, prompting the University City Police Department to enlist help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Reeves and co-defendants subsequently sold fentanyl and firearms to ATF informants and undercover agents.

The charge related to death concerns the fatal shooting of David Anderson on October 21, 2019, on Kingsland Avenue. Trial evidence showed that Reeves and associates shot Anderson in retaliation for a previous shooting in St. Louis County.

Indicted on January 6, 2020, Reeves was arrested eight days later. Three other individuals have pleaded guilty in connection to the case; two await sentencing. Reeves faces a potential life sentence and is scheduled for sentencing on December 28.
