WASHINGTON, DC – Larry Richardson, 71, was sentenced today to seven years in prison for kidnapping and sexually abusing an acquaintance in March 2022. Richardson pleaded guilty to one count of attempted first-degree sexual abuse and one count of kidnapping on February 7, 2023, in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. In addition to the prison term, Judge Maribeth Raffinan ordered Richardson to undergo five years of supervised release and to register as a sex offender for life.

Court records indicate that on March 30, 2022, Richardson and the victim were walking together in the 1800 block of Columbia Road NW when Richardson became violent. Surveillance video captured him dragging the victim into an alley, striking her multiple times in the face, and pulling down her pants and underwear. Richardson continued the assault, repeatedly striking the victim and dragging her further into the alley.

When Richardson had taken the victim to the end of the alley, he pinned her to the ground and attempted to penetrate her with his fingers despite her resistance. Passersby heard the victim’s screams and flagged down police, leading to Richardson’s arrest at the scene.
