Standoff in Euclid Ends with Suspect Injured

EUCLID, OH- A standoff in a residential area of Euclid concluded late Thursday afternoon, involving multiple police officers and a SWAT team.

The incident began around 2:15 pm near E. 250th Street and Devoe Avenue. Euclid police were called to assist the housing court with an eviction notice. Upon arrival, shots were fired from the residence, prompting police to return fire.

One officer was temporarily trapped near the home but managed to navigate safely away. Local school officials advised a two-street radius restriction for student drop-offs due to the ongoing police activity.

The standoff ended shortly before 5 pm when police entered the home and found the suspect with a gunshot wound. The nature of the wound, whether self-inflicted or from police fire, is currently undetermined. The suspect was transported to a hospital; their condition is unknown.

Several officers sustained minor injuries and were examined at Euclid General Hospital.
