SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. — A teenage male has been convicted in a case involving rape, assault, and burglary in a Mastic Beach home.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney confirmed the conviction, noting that the crime was committed when the defendant was just 14 years old.

On April 19, 2022, the defendant, along with an accomplice, broke into a home in Mastic Beach. During the burglary, they encountered a 23-year-old mother and her four-year-old daughter in a bedroom.

The teenager committed sexual assault and physical violence against the mother in front of her child. The victim received extensive medical treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.

Following his arrest on April 21, 2022, the defendant admitted to the burglary and consented to a buccal swab. Analysis by the Suffolk County Crime Laboratory linked his DNA to the crime scene. On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including Rape and Assault in the First Degree. Represented by Christopher Gioe, Esq., he awaits sentencing on February 6, 2024, and is currently held without bail.
