In response to a concerning pattern of crime, Suffolk County Police Department, along with several other law enforcement agencies, has established a multi-jurisdictional task force. This initiative is focused on addressing a series of home burglaries, often occurring while residents are asleep, followed by the theft of high-end vehicles parked outside.
Suffolk County Police Acting Commissioner Robert Waring and District Attorney Ray Tierney, in collaboration with officials from Nassau County, New York City, New York State, and the FBI, announced the formation of this task force on Thursday. The criminal activities, primarily perpetrated by individuals from northern New Jersey, have prompted a concerted effort to tackle this emerging crime wave.
While multiple arrests have been made, the task force acknowledges that not all cases have been solved, and some stolen vehicles are yet to be recovered. To date, there have been no reported injuries associated with these burglaries. However, the potential for violence in such criminal acts remains a significant concern, making this initiative a top priority for law enforcement.
