PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Police Department has announced charges against 18-year-old Aiden Saber of Richland Township, following a devastating crash in McCandless. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of December 23, 2023, on Irwin Road near Babcock Boulevard, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to four others.

Authorities reported that a single vehicle, an SUV driven by Saber, was involved in the crash. It was determined that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, approximately 72 mph in a 25 mph zone, when it veered off the road and collided with a tree. An 18-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 14-year-old male succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a hospital.

Investigations revealed that Saber had allegedly consumed alcohol before the crash, with tests showing a blood alcohol content of .047%. Following a consultation with the district attorney’s office, Saber faces multiple charges, including two counts of homicide by vehicle, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, three counts of aggravated assault by vehicle, and driving under the influence.

Saber was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting preliminary arraignment.
