ORADELL, NJ – A family was forced to leave their home due to a fire that erupted in their basement on Thursday afternoon in Oradell.

The fire, originating from the basement of a one-story house on Oradell Avenue, prompted an immediate evacuation by the family members who first noticed smoke and flames. Fire Chief Terry Moran reported that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation but assured that all occupants were safely evacuated and the fire has been extinguished.

Firefighting teams from Oradell, Westwood, Emerson, and River Edge responded, focusing their efforts on the front and rear of the residence, where the damage was predominantly visible. In a heartening note amidst the distress, Moran highlighted that firefighters were also able to rescue the homeowner’s two cats.
