ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville announced the arrest of Francisco Javi Gomez, a 20-year-old from Norwalk, CT, following an investigation into his alleged attempts to engage a 13-year-old in indecent activities via social media.
The investigation, which began on March 15, 2024, involved the Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security agents, and Rockland County District Attorney’s Office investigators. Gomez was apprehended on April 3, 2024, after he attempted to evade arrest by ramming his vehicle into police cars and leading officers on a brief chase. Law enforcement successfully deployed a spike strip to halt his escape.
Gomez faces charges including felony attempted rape in the second degree, attempted and actual dissemination of indecent material to a minor in the first degree, and misdemeanor criminal mischief in the third degree. Following his arraignment in the Town of Southeast Court, he was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility with bail set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
