Baltimore, MD – A Harford County car salesman’s search for peace and quiet led to a life-changing $36,157 Racetrax win after a noisy remodeling job drove him from his Aberdeen home.

The man, who stopped at the Sunoco Food Mart on South Philadelphia Boulevard on Sunday while picking up a soda for a neighbor, decided to play his favorite Maryland Lottery game. With a $17 Superfecta wager good for 20 races, he unexpectedly hit the jackpot.

“I just needed to get out of there,” he said when claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

While chatting with a friend outside the store, he caught sight of his first race through the shop window. His chosen horses — 12, 9, 6 and 1 — finished in exact order, securing him the biggest win of his playing history.

The winner said the money arrives at a crucial moment. “A lot has gone wrong for my family in the last few months. This will help me sort some of it out, with some left over to enjoy,” he explained.

The Sunoco Food Mart, which sold the lucky ticket, will also receive a $361.57 retailer bonus.
