Absecon, NJ — A man accused of trying to break into vehicles in a residential neighborhood now faces multiple burglary and weapons charges after police linked him to additional incidents, authorities said.

William Bauer Jr., 26, of Absecon, was arrested following an April 12, 2026 investigation that began with a report of attempted car break-ins captured on a home surveillance camera, according to the Absecon Police Department.

Officers responded just after 7:00 a.m. after a resident reported a man seen on a Ring camera attempting to open a vehicle.

Police reviewed the footage, which showed the suspect walking onto the property and pulling on a car door handle. A short time later, officers located Bauer in the area and detained him.

During the investigation, officers said Bauer was found in possession of various items. A search conducted after his arrest uncovered drug paraphernalia, weapons, burglary tools, and a significant amount of personal property believed to have been taken from multiple vehicles.
