Police say the 45-year-old suspect was captured on the same street five days later
BALTIMORE, MD – Five days after a 33-year-old man was shot on a Baltimore street, the suspect wanted in the case was captured just one block away on that same street and charged with first-degree attempted murder, police said.
Leon Nolan, 45, was arrested Aug. 25 in the 3400 block of 7th Street by members of the Baltimore Police Department’s Warrant Task Force.
Police said Nolan was wanted on an open warrant accusing him of shooting a 33-year-old man five days earlier.
The gunfire was reported at approximately 1:51 a.m. Aug. 20 in the 3500 block of 7th Street.
Southern District patrol officers responding to the shooting found the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was transported to an area hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators subsequently obtained a warrant for Nolan in connection with the shooting.
The search ended Aug. 25 when the Warrant Task Force arrested Nolan in the 3400 block of 7th Street, one block from the 3500 block where the shooting had occurred.
Nolan was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
Police said he has been charged with first-degree attempted murder.
The department did not disclose a suspected motive or say what investigators believe led to the shooting.
Police also did not provide information about any relationship between Nolan and the victim.
The arrest came five days after the shooting and only a block away from where officers had initially found the wounded victim.
