Alina Habba fires back at Booker and Murphy as judicial war heats up in New Jersey
Newark, NJ — Alina Habba unleashed a blistering rebuke against New Jersey’s political establishment and federal judiciary this week, accusing top Democrats and judges of obstructing her path to becoming U.S. Attorney while turning the justice system into a political battlefield.
In a fiery statement, Habba, a high-profile attorney and former legal spokesperson for Donald Trump, claimed her nomination to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey was torpedoed by Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, despite her attempts to speak with them.
“I have never to this day spoken to [Andy Kim] in my life, despite my attempts,” Habba said, describing the process as “disturbing” and “politically motivated.” She also accused Senator Chuck Grassley of contributing to the delay by holding up the traditional “blue slip” process used to approve federal nominees.
Habba pointed to the influence of what she called a politically charged bench, claiming that of New Jersey’s 17 federal judges, 15 were appointed by either President Obama or President Biden. She said some were using their positions “like we saw with Tish James,” referring to the New York Attorney General’s litigation against Trump, alleging political motivation from the bench.

Then Then fast forward, it goes to the judges, 17 federal judges in the state of New Jersey, 15 of which are Obama and Biden appointed.
That just like, frankly, we saw with Tish James, tried to use their seat for political motivation. I am the pick of the President. I am the pick of Pam Bondi, our attorney general, and I will serve this country like I have for the last several years in any capacity. You might try and change my title. You might try and fight me. But just like today with New York, we will win. We always do. It just takes time. But it’s disturbing what we’re seeing.
It’s not surprising, but it’s disturbing. They think they have a voice for five minutes. They try and be activists. Pam Bondi called it like it is.The attorney general said it today. We will not fall to rogue judges. We will not fall to people trying to be political when they should just be doing their job, respecting the President. You can’t get rid of the President. Almost 100 million people voted for him, and he is still and will be forever the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

She went on to call out what she described as “rogue judges” acting as political activists rather than neutral arbiters of the law. “They try and be activists,” she said. “We will not fall to people trying to be political when they should just be doing their job.”
Habba’s statement also echoed support for Trump, calling him both the 45th and 47th president and declaring, “You can’t get rid of the President. Almost 100 million people voted for him.”
The U.S. Attorney position in New Jersey has remained a flashpoint as the Biden administration’s nominations face slow progress through the Senate. No formal confirmation hearing for Habba has been scheduled, and it remains unclear whether the nomination will be re-submitted in a second Trump administration should he win re-election.
