Allegheny County Police seek leads in Wilkinsburg homicide

WILKINSBURG, PA — Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit are seeking information in the fatal shooting of a man inside a Wilkinsburg apartment last year, as the case remains unsolved.

The victim, 35-year-old Darryl Nelson, was found shot and killed on November 27, 2023, at approximately 7:19 p.m. inside an apartment at 900 Hill Avenue. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators have determined that Nelson was visiting a friend’s residence at the time of the shooting and believe multiple individuals were present when the incident occurred. Efforts to identify those individuals are ongoing, and detectives are appealing to the community for assistance.

Anyone with information about Nelson’s death is encouraged to contact the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and authorities stress that no detail is too small.

A year later, police continue to search for answers in the killing of Darryl Nelson as the investigation into the unsolved homicide presses forward.
