Gunfire and robbery leave victim wounded as Newark police hunt trio

Newark, NJ — A late-night argument in Newark escalated into violence when a man was shot and robbed, leaving investigators searching for three suspects who fled the scene.

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on March 13 near South Orange Avenue and Littleton Avenue. Police said the victim was arguing with a group of individuals before the situation turned physical.

According to authorities, the suspects attacked and robbed the victim, and during the encounter, one of the individuals shot him in the leg. The suspects then fled the area.

The injured man was able to walk to University Hospital for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed.

Police described two of the suspects as Black males with dark brown complexions. One was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with a denim jacket featuring a multi-color design on the back, while the second wore a black and blue jacket with a dark blue Adidas knit hat and dark pants.

A third suspect, described as a tall Black male with a medium brown complexion, allegedly fired the gun. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black coat.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals involved as the investigation continues.
