Assault and Robbery at the Broadway Dollar General Store in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – On March 6 at approximately 5:30pm, a male suspect entered the Dollar General Store at 712 Broadway and began putting merchandise in a black and red duffle bag.

Two store employees were assaulted by the suspect as he attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. The suspect also left the store with a cell phone owned by an employee.

One victim was treated and released from Clara Maass Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

O’Hara asks the public for help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect described by police as being black, in his 50’s, 5’6″ tall with a thin build, bald head, wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and white Air Force One sneakers. Anyone with information on the identity of this suspect can call the Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-695-8477. All anonymous tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
